5-Ton Electric Winch for Residential Construction in Philippines

Project Overview

In June 2024, Zhifang Machinery received an order from a well-known general construction contractor in Manila, the Philippines. The customer was undertaking a high-rise residential construction project and urgently needed a set of high-performance electric winches for vertical lifting of construction materials such as steel bars, formwork, and cement bags. After in-depth communication and demand analysis, we customized a JK series high-speed electric winch for the customer, which perfectly matched the local construction conditions and operational needs, and successfully completed the whole-process delivery from production to after-sales service.

Customer Requirements & Working Conditions

The customer’s construction site was located in the urban area of Manila, with harsh working conditions—outdoor operation, high temperature, high humidity, and frequent dust. Combined with the 30-story high-rise construction demand, the customer put forward clear and strict requirements for the winch:

• Rated Load: 5 tons, to meet the lifting needs of various construction materials

• Wire Rope Length: 100 meters, matching the height of the 30-story building

• Voltage Standard: 220V / 60Hz / 3P, complying with the Philippine industrial power supply standard (different from China’s 380V/50Hz)

• Safety Performance: Equipped with upper/lower limit switches, overload protection, and emergency brake to ensure safe operation at high altitudes

• Lifting Speed: 25m/min (high-speed type), to improve construction efficiency and meet the tight construction schedule

• Certifications: Required to provide CE and ISO9001 certificates to ensure smooth customs clearance and on-site access in the Philippines

Customized Technical Solution

Based on the customer’s specific needs and the harsh tropical working environment in the Philippines, our R&D and technical team designed a targeted solution, focusing on solving problems such as voltage adaptation, corrosion resistance, and dustproof and waterproof performance. The key configurations of the customized JK5 high-speed electric winch are as follows:

• Rated Pulling Force: 50kN (5 tons), with stable load-bearing capacity

• Drum Capacity: Equipped with Φ15mm galvanized steel wire rope, 100 meters in length, with strong corrosion resistance and wear resistance, suitable for the marine humid environment in the Philippines

• Motor Configuration: 15kW motor with customized winding, adapted to 220V/60Hz/3P voltage, stable operation, low energy consumption, and strong adaptability to high-temperature environments

• Gearbox: Hardened tooth surface ZQ350 gearbox with forced lubrication, low noise, wear resistance, and long service life

• Braking System: Dual braking (electromagnetic + mechanical), which can be automatically locked when power is cut off, effectively preventing safety accidents caused by unexpected power failure

• Control Mode: Equipped with ground push-button station and wireless remote control, allowing flexible operation, which is convenient for operators to control the winch at different positions on the construction site

• Special Treatment for Export: The whole machine adopts IP54 dustproof and waterproof design; the motor and electrical components are sprayed with anti-salt spray coating; the control box uses a stainless steel shell with moisture-proof sealing, and is equipped with English and Philippine language labels for easy operation and maintenance by local staff.

Production & Quality Control

Quality is the foundation of our overseas development. We strictly implemented the ISO9001 quality management system throughout the production process, and set up multiple quality inspection nodes to ensure that the product meets the customer’s requirements and international standards. The specific production and inspection process is as follows:

1. June 16 - July 5: Machining, welding, and sandblasting rust removal. We used high-quality Q235B steel plates, and the welding process was strictly controlled to ensure the structural strength of the winch.

2. July 6 - July 10: Assembly work. Professional technicians assembled the motor, gearbox, brake, drum, and other components, ensuring the accuracy and stability of each connection part.

3. July 11 - July 12: Full-load performance test. We conducted a 1-hour continuous operation test under 5-ton rated load, a static load test at 1.25 times the rated load (6.25 tons), and a full inspection of the limit switch, overload protection, and braking performance to ensure that all functions of the winch are normal and stable.

4. July 13: Painting, labeling, and packaging. The winch was painted with medium gray anti-rust paint and blue topcoat to enhance corrosion resistance; all labels and operation instructions were pasted, and the product was packaged in a fumigated plywood wooden box (with IPPC mark) to prevent damage during transportation. The steel wire rope was independently coiled and packaged to ensure transportation safety.

Export Process & Documentation

With rich experience in international export, we provided one-stop export services for the customer, solving the troubles of customs declaration, clearance, and transportation, and ensuring the smooth delivery of the product. The key links are as follows:

• Payment Terms: 30% T/T in advance, 70% balance against the copy of the Bill of Lading, which is safe and reliable for both parties.

• Chinese Customs Declaration (July 27): The HS code of the product is 84253100 (electric winch). We prepared complete customs declaration documents, including contract, commercial invoice, packing list, customs declaration form, and inspection certificate, ensuring smooth customs clearance in China.

• Philippine Customs Clearance Documents: We provided the customer with a full set of clearance documents, including Bill of Lading (B/L), Certificate of Origin (CO), CE & ISO9001 certificates, quality inspection report, and English operation manual, helping the customer complete customs clearance quickly.

• Logistics Arrangement: The product was shipped from Shanghai Port on July 29, and arrived at Manila Port on August 6, using a 20-foot container for sea freight. We cooperated with a professional freight forwarder to track the entire transportation process and arrange door-to-door delivery, ensuring that the product was delivered to the customer’s construction site on time.

Delivery & After-Sales Service

We adhere to the concept of "customer-centric" and provide comprehensive after-sales service to ensure that the customer can use the product with confidence, which has won high recognition from the customer:

• Real-Time Tracking: After shipment on July 29, we promptly provided the customer with the Bill of Lading, packing list, and product shipping photos, allowing the customer to grasp the transportation progress in real time.

• Installation Guidance: After the product arrived at the construction site on August 7, our technical team provided the customer with English installation videos and online professional guidance to help the local staff complete wiring, installation, and commissioning quickly.

• Operation Training: We conducted remote training for local electricians and operators, focusing on the safe operation, daily maintenance, and common fault handling of the winch, ensuring that the staff can use the product standardizedly.

• Warranty Service: We provide a 12-month warranty service (excluding wearing parts) and supply spare parts at cost price for life, solving the customer’s worries about later use.

• Customer Feedback: The customer highly recognized our products and services, stating that "the winch operates stably, has high lifting speed and low failure rate, and the price is 35% lower than that of local brands. We will place an order for 5 more units in the later stage."
